Stories of Home: The Louis’ - Part 2
We learned about Danesha and Reggie Louis in Part 1 of their Story of Home. Something I always love to ask about is what this experience meant to them. Not because everything is glitter and rainbows (it’s usually not), but it’s always great to hear about the special journey it took to get them HOME.
Me: What did you have to overcome to achieve a thing like homeownership?
Reggie and Danesha: We had to become serious about making home ownership a priority and making sure our daily actions aligned with what we were striving toward. Ultimately, we had to let go of temporary satisfaction for our longer-term goals.
Me: What does homeownership mean to you?
Reggie and Danesha: Homeownership means generational wealth, legacy and more than words can explain.
Danesha: As an immigrant, I’ve witnessed my parents struggle to own a home much later in life. Accomplishing this now, as young adults, means so much to us, our family and our future family.
Me: What is HOME to you?
Reggie and Danesha: Home, to us, is safety, security, peace and a fertile foundation. It is a place we can be our authentic selves and nurture our family to be their best selves. Home is the first place of grace, love and endless opportunities.
