1950s Ranch Revival: How it Went Down

There’s something about standing in the shell of a place and knowing that one day this place will be home. For me, my favorite expression of my creativity is through interiors and making a vision come to reality at home. You may have read why I chose this house - but the ironic truth is, I always refer to this house as the “best decision I never made”. Nicknamed Belvy by those who love her, this little house is special for so many reasons. Although I saw this aged beauty, I knew I had to make the rest of you believers.

Truth is, the renovation took much longer than I thought - I purchased the property right when the pandemmy became a “thing” - I remember being at the closing table reading news articles about what was happening… all while texting a friend, ultimately deciding we’d have to cancel a tour we were planning for some artists. In faith that all things would work out for the good, I paid the money, signed the papers, and got the keys.

In my last blog post, I showed you the walk through before I put an offer in on the house. Here’s the empty house tour before renovations began:

A project that I thought would take 5-8 weeks, ended up taking almost an entire year. My expectation for a quick and painless restoration was reduced to frustration from months of holding costs and the demolition of my perfectly planned timeline.

A thousand lessons later, we revived a three bedroom, three bathroom beauty into something that I can finally call home.
